Sea turtles have a key role in their ecosystem. We need them for keeping a healthy balance in our oceans and beaches. They control the populations of several organisms by eating them, but are also food for many key ocean and coastal predators, placing them in a key spot inside wild food webs.Their shells are home to a myriad of organisms, and some sea turtle species carry entire communities on their backs, functioning as a dispersing mechanism for many species.
